Weekly Photo Challenge for 2016 by Paper and Landscapes

Forget New Year’s Resolutions that are unrealistic and almost impossible. Let’s begin 2016 with a challenge that will exercise your creativity and imagination, improve your artistic skills, and make you realize that reaching your goals is possible.

Our 2016 Weekly Photo Challenge

Paper and Landscapes’ Weekly Photo Challenge is about taking pictures all year long with a sense of purpose. We will give you a set of themes, one theme for each week of the month. The theme will guide you and inspire your creative process. After taking each photograph, feel free to share it with us! We will publish every month’s entries.

Here are the answers to some questions you might have about our photo challenge:

Why do it Weekly?

A daily challenge is just too much to handle. It can become overwhelming, specially to people who are working long hours and need time to relax. On the other hand, a monthly challenge is too easy, and usually the easier it gets the lazier one gets too. Therefore, a weekly challenge is the best option for a challenge because it gives you just enough time to think about what you want to do and actually create it, and it doesn’t overwhelm your mind.

What about non photographers?

It doesn’t matter if you are a professional photographer, an amateur, or don’t even have a camera. This challenge is for everybody. No matter the level of photography skills, age, or gender, this photo challenge is for everyone that has a creative soul. We are not looking for perfectly composed photography. We just want you to have fun! And to have a goal that goes on the whole year, one that’s easily reachable, and that will make you smile each week. So use any camera you have on hand, even if it’s your cellphone. We promise you’ll have fun anyway.

What if I miss a week?

Don’t worry about it! Do your best to complete every week. If you miss one, go right to the next theme. If you have some free time later on and you want to go back to the week you missed, that’s fine too. Just don’t see this challenge as a burden on your shoulders. I repeat. Have fun with it!

Should I interpret each theme literally?

Not necessarily. The purpose of this photo challenge is to challenge your mind, creativity, and imagination. So if the theme says “leaf” (just an example), you don’t have to go outside and photograph a leaf on a tree. You can do that if you want, but it’s not required to be literal. Just interpret each theme the way your heart tells you to.

How do I share my photos?

In order for us to be able to see your photos and publish them on our blog, you will need to post them and tag us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. However, it is also very important that you use our hashtag:
