Last week we announced our new section called Featured Artist, where we want to give YOU the spotlight and showcase your art, any type of art. We believe on artists helping each other out and that’s why we want to provide a space for other artists to promote their artwork and boost their business.
This week, we handpicked our Featured Artist among the tons of amazing artists whose work we follow. Her shop is called Femmebroidery. Check it out!
Featured Artist: Maria Arseniuk
Maria Arseniuk is the creator of Femmebroidery, a fabulous hand stitched fibre arts Etsy shop. She is from Calgary, AB, Canada, and she considers herself as a “feminist, crafitivist, activist, globe trotter and social justice enthusiast.”
As stated on her Etsy shop, Femmebroidery is where feminism and fibre art meet as one. “Femmebroidery began as a one-woman show in late 2014 when I began embroidering to both distract and procrastinate from the demands of grad school.”, Maria explains. “After graduation, I took this gig on the road full-time, and after meeting my partner, a designer, I began to incorporate mixed media into my hoop art.”
Her embroidery work is simply beautiful. Combined with the printed designs, her artwork stands out even more.
A lot of her designs incorporate messages that promote feminism and empowering women. However, others are just plain funny!
