December is here! 2015 is almost over, and it’s time to make plans for 2016. Start your year right by setting goals that will motivate you through the whole year with this free printable sheet.
It’s hard to believe 2015 is quickly coming to an end. 2016 is just around the corner, and in order to have a good year I think it’s important to set goals right from the beginning. This free printable sheet will help you with that.
Why set goals?
Many people have the tradition of making New Year’s Resolutions. But the hard truth is that they only last a couple of months in the beginning of the year. This happens simply because they see their resolutions with the intention of fulfilling them “someday”, as opposed to concrete goals with a deadline. Goals require real effort. They will encourage and motivate your daily choices in the right direction so you can reach for the finish line, in which you will see the fruits of your effort and feel accomplished.
A few tips…
I have made this kind of list before, and I have been able to achieve most of the goals I’ve set for myself. Making lists like this reminds me constantly of what my objectives are, and it helps me keep myself focused throughout the year. However, I admit that I procrastinate, and it’s usually at the final months of the year when I actually finish most of my goals. That’s why I decided to make this printable available before the year starts, so you can think thoroughly about the goals that you want to set, be mentally prepared to get focused on them, and be ready to start achieving your goals right from the start. I recommend setting a deadline for each goal if you really want to stay on time, instead of having the end of the year as a deadline for all of them.
I also suggest that you try to be realistic in setting your goals. Although it is great to believe in yourself and be optimistic, overachieving could lead to disappointment, and you might even give up on the rest of your goals if you feel discouraged. Think about what you are really capable of doing, taking everything into consideration. Don’t make every goal a Mt. Everest goal. Set a few easy and fun goals, things that maybe you’ve always thought about doing but never found the time. These will be your stimulating goals. When you’ve accomplished these, you will feel more excited to finish the rest of the list.
