Rustic Gift Wrapping – Cute Ideas

The wrapping is a very special part of a gift. This rustic wrapping gives the present a nice personal touch that anyone will love. It turns out beautiful and inexpensive, which is really awesome!

This is how I make the rustic gift wrapping.

Paper and Landscapes

Materials needed:
– Gift in a box
Kraft paper
– White paper doilies
– Twine, ribbon, or yarn
– Scissors
– Tape
– Stamp and ink (optional)

*Note* Amazon links are used as examples of materials you can buy for this project, but are not necessarily the same ones I used. Read the description of each product carefully if you plan to buy it.

Step 1: Wrap the box (It’s easy!)

Cut a piece of the kraft paper making sure that it will cover your box completely. You don’t have to overmeasure; it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to cover the box. (You can use the box itself to check if it will cover all the sides and that the paper is not too big or too small.)

Place the box upside down on the middle of the paper. Bring one side of the paper up and tape it down to the box.

Paper and Landscapes

Measure (and cut if necessary) the other end of the paper so that it falls just a little over the taped down part. Fold the edge about 1/2″ to make it neat, bring it up and tape it down securely.

Now on to the ends. I realized mine were too long, so I cut them to about half the size.

Now fold the sides toward the center.

Fold the flap that has the seams and tape it down. (I cut the tip so that it would fit nicely.)

Fold down about 1/4″ of the other flap to make a neat edge and tape it down.

Step 2: Attach the doily

Decide where you want the doily to go and secure it with tape. I think it looks so nice folded around the side or corner of the box, rather than just placing it on the center. You can stamp a nice message onto it or write the recipient’s name, which works great for a rustic gift wrapping. Make it cute! (If you don’t want to use a doily, you could also use a piece of scrapbook paper to give the wrapping a customized look.)

Step 3: Wrap it with twine, ribbon, or yarn

I chose to wrap my gift with a red ribbon, tying it with a nice little bow. I think this rustic gift wrapping is such a nice look. You could also decorate the box with washi tape or paper bows… be creative!

And it’s finished!

Other options:

Wrap a long piece of yarn a few times around the box and tie it with a bow on the top.

Paper and Landscapes

Draw or write right on the box with a pen or a sharpie.

Use some cute stamps to decorate the box.

You can always use materials that you have lying around in your house, that way you don’t waste a lot of money on gift wrapping! Have fun and remember it doesn’t have to be super perfect, it will turn out cute, I promise. 🙂
